Today (January 15, 2019) should have been payday for the men and women of the United States Coast Guard, but instead, families awoke this morning to find no direct deposit in their accounts, due to the government shutdown.
Coast Guard Mutual Assistance is the official military relief society for the U.S. Coast Guard. CGMA is an independent non-profit charitable organization, established by Coast Guard people for Coast Guard people.
The Kendall County Democratic Party is participating in the “Texas Patriots” Fundraiser to help raise money for Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, which can in turn support their Lapse Assistance Program to cover part of those families’ missing paychecks toward bills and expenses, as well as the other important programs CGMA operates to support these servicemen and women.
